So there have been quite a few songs that I have listened to and just couldn't get out of my system. Now I'm going to share them with you, and the only reason I just said that because I have to warn you of how catchy these songs can be. It could have just been me though, so just beware of the songs I am about to share with you could be appealing to your memory (results may vary).
*Colin Hay - The Flying Song
If you've seen Helogan T Cardwell, you would be familiar with this song. I originally heard this in a movie I saw: Gold Diggers, Secrets of Bear Mountain. It's a pretty good movie and I really liked the moral. Anyways, the song just stuck out in my head. However, I'm kind of over it now.
*Kid Cudi - King Wizard
Another song I used in Helogan T Cardwell. The chorus is really cool and it makes me want to jump up and start doing something similar to hopping and doing the two step (I assure you a visual would make much more sense). It sounds a bit modern, but with a new sound that makes a twist to modern hip hop where you can sense there's something missing (like a high pitched clicking sound or something else that modern hip hop has that you wish you didn't hear), but you like it. Awesome song, very encouraging, stuck in my head for weeks.
*Elton John - Benny and the Jets
This was one if the strangest songs I could ever have stuck in my head. I was watching My Girl 2 (long story) and this song came on during one of the scenes. I felt bad for anyone that was around because I would just start singing the lyrics out of the blue (because thinking the lyrics was obviously not enough for me). I was barely trying to sing it properly either, so that just made it worse. Regardless of all of that, the song is very fun to sing, and I would recommend singing this with someone else to get a good laugh out of it. It may just be me, but I think it would be at least a little bit hilarious no matter how you sing it. I'm sure this John fellow was serious when he was making it though, so...
*Childish Gambino - Heartbeat
I first heard this while watching MTV Hits ( as I mentioned in my Music post), and I thought it was very cool. I couldn't watch it again on television because it only comes on every other time of the day and I didn't have time to wait for it, so I went to YouTube to watch it. That's when I heard the actual lyrics, what he didn't say on television (that happened to me a few times with different songs). The music video had an interesting form of direction as far as the way the person behind the camera composed. The chorus is really catchy, and fun to sing. The lyrics to the rest of the song are strong and is about a girl cheating on a guy with him, so this isn't the best song for me to have been listening to. At least I'm honest. *shrugs*
*Carrie Underwood - Good Girl
Now this was a song that I heard in a period of my life where I had a spontaneous curiosity in country music (I had my reasons). Another song with catchy lyrics, but it was the entire song and not just the chorus. This is also another song that I couldn't song seriously. I might as well have made a parody of the song. The message could be effective at some point in a girl's life, so there's a plus.
*Azalea Banks - 212
This, like Heartbeat, is another song I discovered on MTV Hits, found on YouTube, and heard lyrics that I didn't expect. I'm not entirely sure what the lyrics are about, but it sounds like she doesn't care about something, or she's confronting someone about how tough (the only word I could think of that I could share with you all) she is. Plus, I believe she's saying that she was in New York City and now she's back or something. The beat is a bit quick and fun, so this is another song that will make you dance (results may vary), and that I had stuck in my head for about 4 weeks. Click here to hear the song.
*Tyler the Creator - Yonkers
The absolute worst song to have stuck in your head. Why it stuck? I don't know. But I heard it a couple of years ago, and remembered it recently because in his video, he eats this roach (or something similar to that). I couldn't remember what it was that disturbed me anymore about the video, so I watched it again. It doesn't end well. This guy basically is in a therapy session, and has an alter ego named Wolf Haley. It's kind of interesting how much he says in the song. He says things that is considered vicious and makes you say, "whoah". I'm pretty sure it's out of me by now.
*Foster the People - Waste
I was listening to their Torches album and heard this song. I immediately fell in live with it. This song has a catchy chorus that sometimes is worth singing seriously. To be honest, the entire Torches album can get stuck in your head, but this song in particular is really cool.
*Fleet Foxes - Mykonos
Once again, this is a song that you can sing along to that I just so happen to sing without being serious. I could only imagine how great this would be to play on an instrument. This is more of a calm song as opposed to most the other songs that I mentioned before. I first heard this on Pandora and fell in love with it. Wonderful piece of work, and worth listening to. Played it on repeat about forty times. Click here to hear Mykonos.
*Death Cab for Cutie - Soul Meets Body
Another Pandora song (if I had a quarter for every artist that Pandora has revealed to me...). I couldn't believe how great this song is. One of the most catchiest songs in my life life, and yes, I'm going to have to sing this seriously. I put my heart into this one, and I sing at the top of my lungs. Another song worth playing with an instrument. This song I had on repeat forty one times.
These are just a handful of the songs that I have been singing forever. I'm afraid I'm going to have to cut it short. And don't get me wrong, these songs are great, but I wish I didn't have to be reminded this way. Maybe it's karma, or some sort of slum-dog millionaire thing where when ever I hear it, it will remind me of a certain time in my life. I hope it's something cool like that. I will accept no less than that. :-|
